VOLUNTEERS: A Gathering of Angels

Project Angel Food’s kitchen is 80% volunteer-driven, and even one day of volunteering can make a world of difference to our most vulnerable neighbors. Since 1989, we’ve delivered over 12 million meals to more than 22,000 critically ill people. This is made possible by the generosity of dedicated volunteers who help prepare meals, assist in our office, and staff our events.

Volunteers can sign up on their own, with a group of friends, family, or co-workers, and they can spend one day or many years in service to our community. We have some volunteers who started in high school or college, who have now been with us for 10, 15, or 20 years.

In an effort to minimize the spread of the virus, the Board of Directors have decided to temporarily suspend volunteers in the kitchen and offices.

Becoming a volunteer is as easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Complete the online Sign Up form.
  2. Attend a new volunteer orientation (held twice a month from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM) where we share the history of Project Angel Food, important information about our meals, and details about our many volunteer projects.
  3. Schedule a time to volunteer.

If you’re looking to foster team building while giving back, Project Angel Food is ideal for student, community, and corporate days of service. Groups of up to 15 people may volunteer in the kitchen Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM. We also have a weekend shift on Sunday from 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM.

Groups of more than 15 people and groups interested in volunteering on Saturdays (or anytime outside our regular schedule) may partner with Project Angel Food to sponsor a Customized Volunteer Experience.

Groups of all sizes should complete the online Sign Up form and a staff member from Volunteer Services will be in touch.
